So your wedding is just weeks away and you want to blast your belly flab just in time for your last dress fitting. Most brides would say in order to get fit in time for their big day they started just after their engagement with a disciplined work out routine, eating right and limiting their guilty pleasure foods.

What about those brides looking to flatten their midsection just before putting on their dream dress. Wondering if there are any last minute ‘fixes’? There sure are! Read below for some go-to tips to tackling your tummy (spanx not required!)


NIX THE FIZZ:
Avoiding all carbonated beverages at least a week and a half before your big day can deflate any last minute tummy bulge. This includes seltzer water! I am a seltzer freak and even though there are no ‘calories’, be sure to avoid this fizzy beverage leading up to your wedding and as a rule of thumb- also steer clear of any with sodium all the time!

IT’S YOUR CALL ALCOHOL: You will have plenty of bubbly popping at your reception. Save your celebrating for then! Avoid overindulging in alcohol especially the week of your wedding. Besides adding bloatedness or extra empty calories, it also can have you lowering your ‘eating healthy’ guard while reaching for a cupcake or chips when your a just a bit tipsy. Don’t let your hard work go to waste (or your waist!!)

MORNING CRUNCH: Want some more motivation? Wake up with a crunch! Original, reverse, bicycle, oblique – crunches are a morning energizer and will help tone your tummy while giving your the morning jolt you need. Double it up! Do some at night too.

GET PHYSICAL: Quality – NOT quantity! If you are continuing your workout regimen the week of your wedding. Definitely consider boosting your cardio by not adding minutes to your workout but adding intervals. Doing a 20 minute interval cycle (1 min walk, 2 min jog alternating) can be much more effective than simply walking for 40 minutes. Also if you are up for the challenge, switch up the incline throughout your interval sessions. It also makes the time fly by!

UNWIND: Ohhmmmmmmmmmmmmm! You need to unwind and relax especially before one of the biggest days of your life. Practice yoga or meditation on your own. Turn off your cell/tv/ipad/phone/computer/laptop (<—you get the hint) and just do some deep breathing on your own to bring yourself back to a relaxed state. This is especially helpful each week night leading up to the wedding and also the morning of. Remember – stress can cause belly fat (yes – it’s true, ask Dr. Oz!) De-stressing is a key to a flatter tummy!

H2O-OMG!: The benefits are endless. Your skin, your health, your overall well-being. Load up on water the wedding week and besides the brightening skin benefits, notice the change in your waistline. Water will help to eliminate the body’s toxins and in turn release extra weight around your stomach.

NEAT EATS: Think about eating especially ‘clean’ your wedding week: organic, lots of fruits and vegetables, avoiding white flour and sugar. You will have lots of sweets and exceptional delicacies on your big day. Enjoy them then!
